چکیده

The aim of the present study was to get somaclonal variants and induced mutants of potato for desirable characters with special emphasis on yield and yield components in two cultivars of potato viz., Desiree and Diamant. Inter-nodal explants from both the cultivars were incubated for 1420wks in callus inducing medium comprising MS salts supplemented with NAA (1.0mg/l) and BAP (0.5mg/l) for obtaining somaclonal variants. For mutation induction, 10 week old, well proliferating calli was exposed to 5-50Gy of gamma irradiation. The regenerated plants were analyzed on the basis of morphological characters for variation. The plants were screened on the basis of average shoot height, number of shoots, number of nodes/shoots, average tuber number, tuber size, tuber weight and number of eyes / tuber. Three variant lines (SV1, SV2 and SV3) and 6 gamma mutant lines (GM1, GM2, GM3, GM4 GM5 and GM6) were selected on the basis of better yield and other agronomic characters. The current study demonstrates the production of useful variants both by tissue culture and gamma irradiation in potato.

Effects of paclobutrazol and jasmonic acid on potato minituber production and some plant characteristics in aeroponic cultivation system

In this research, the acclimatized in vitro plants were transferred to the aeroponic system and the effects of paclobutrazol (PBZ) and jasmonic acid (JA) were investigated on the production of potato (Solanum tuberosum L. cvs Agria and Svalan) minitubers. Some plant characteristics were also investigated in this cultivation system, under greenhouse conditions. Plants were foliar sprayed with PB...

Molecular and morphological assessment of genetic variability induced by gamma radiation in canola

Mutation induction is considered as an effective way to enrich plant genetic variation, particularly for traits with a very low level of genetic variation. This research was conducted to assess genetic variation induced by gamma radiation in M2 and M3 mutant lines of canola (Brassica napus L.) by SSR and morphological characteristics and to identify useful mutants in terms of agronomic traits. ...

کنترل بیولوژیکی و زراعی بیماری نقطه سیاه سیب زمینی

The black dot disease of potato is a fungal disease caused by Colletotrichum coccodes (syn. C. atramentarium) that produces accervuli on infected underground plant parts which appear as black dots. The disease appears at the flowering stage and develops up to the season end. The survey on black dot disease of potato in two successive years indicated that the infection percentage is 39.86 in Fer...
